The Conflict We Did Not See Coming

“The Conflict We Didn’t See Coming” (James 4:1–3)

This message explores James’ penetrating question about the source of conflict in our lives. While we often blame external circumstances—relationships, culture, or even spiritual opposition—James reveals that the real battle often begins within the human heart. Unchecked desires, selfish ambition, and misplaced cravings create internal turmoil that eventually spills out into broken relationships and misguided prayers.

Through biblical insight, relatable illustrations, and the teaching of Jesus, this sermon exposes how self-centered desires can lead to conflict, self-sabotage, and ineffective prayer. Yet it also points to the hope found

In Christ: when His love grows in us, selfishness loses its power.

Ultimately, the message calls believers to examine the war within, realign their hearts in prayer, and allow the transforming love of Christ to replace selfish desire—bringing peace to relationships and deeper communion with God.
