Pastor Jason Smith was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas by his mother Shirley, along with his brother and two sisters. Life was a challenge for his family as his father passed away when Jason was only 5 years of age, leaving his mother with the responsibility of raising the family. Throughout Jason’s early life he didn’t make the best of choices; ultimately leading him away from God and running from the call that was placed on his life. Living in the consequences of his decisions, Jason experienced many hardships leading to a spiritual awakening
during the spring of 1997.
After being invited to a revival service in Pensacola Florida; Pastor Jason encountered Jesus as his personal savior and was filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit that night. Leaving the church that evening Jason gave all thanks to God for his mercy and Grace and knew that God had a call on his life and felt an urgency to share the love that he had encountered with the lost and broken.
Pastor Jason said (His entire ministry has been shaped around the statement: (Find a need and meet it, Find a hurt and heal it.) This mandate is a desire to share what he had personally encountered. It was in August of 1997 that Pastor Jason met the love of his life Shawna and they married on November 13th, 1999. They have two Children: Christian age 9 and Stella age 3.
Throughout the journey of Pastor Jason’s life, God has placed him and his family in a position to be a living example of the love Christ and to equip other’s to do the same. The catalyst of their ministry has been and will always be and we quote: (To preach God’s word with the End in mind).
Pastor Jason received his Education through Global University and was Ordained with the Oklahoma District of the Assemblies of God on April 30th, 2013.
Pastor Jason’s personal vision: To live his life focused on Jesus Christ, and to daily look to his word and allow it to guide and direct his life, so that he can lead not only his self, but his family and those that God has entrusted into his life to lead. Daily he desires to pursue all these things with the end in mind and he longs for the day that he hears those words, well done thou good and faithful servant.
Pastor Jason’s favorite quote:
(What you do today is important, because you’ve exchanged a day for it.)
Ecclesiastes 7:8 says the end of a matter is better than its beginning. I say that verse today with the faith that the best has yet to come to First Assembly of God, the community of Stigler and the surrounding areas. My family and I look forward to working with fellow pastor’s and churches in the area to make that a reality.
Matthew 22:36-40New International Version (NIV)
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Jesus told his early followers that the two most important things in life or the two most important commands were to love God and to love People.
Stigler First Assembly is a church that is very passionate about these commands and have made every effort to make it a part of our church culture. Regardless of what life throws at us we believe that we must always stand firm in loving God and loving People.
Everything we do has been birthed out a desire to fullfill these commands that Jesus mandated.
Our goal when you walk through our doors is to feel and sense the love of God and a people that will accept you just as you are.
Our Mission is simple:
Love God | Love People | Go Out
